Andrea Orioli's Sculpt & Models

Hi everybody, i decided to open this new thread as many people did, to be a collection of all the sculps i’ve done till now (2 in total at the moment :stuck_out_tongue: ) and those i’ll surely do in future.

Here is the latest model i did. It’s a Dungeon & Dragons monster named Bluespawn God Slayer, i’m posting also the image reference.

I take the change to re-propose also my very first model in zbrush, that i’ve done some month ago. It’s simply a dragon head i’ve done for fun and to take some confidence with the software.

really like the first monster…didi u use an alpha for these rocky looking bits? or just some claytool crasyness?
either way won’t be long before being a top row i recon
keep posting
Abe

thank you abe, the rocky scales coming out of the skin aren’t any alpha, also if i recognize that that would have been a time saving approach
In this case i defined the outline shape with a light layer brush, then gave some height with a standard brush and in the end made the hard edges with the flatten brush…that’s pretty much this…i also used some clay to integrate them with the skin because after this process the borders of the scales are too hard and a little fake…

at the moment i’m realizing the sword for that character…updates very soon

Hey guys during this afternoon i’ve made the sword for the Bluespawn monster i’ve done… here is the render…in the next days i’ll make also the shield and then i’ll put it in a final pose with also these elements.

Thats feeling really cool. The mass in the character really feels like muscle, or atleast like a body of a creature. Really I can’t think of much I would say because I would just be saying personal opinions… looking good.

i started the shield today, and till now i’ve done just the base mesh and the main shape…
I’ve just decided to make a very very rough and quick composition test to see how all the different elements fit together.
i’m thinking that maybe the shield could be a little too big…but i’d like to see also your opinions.

nice progress! may i add that the sword is straighter than the concept ( i like the curved version from the concept more
keep it up!
A

Hi guys, tonight i’ve finished in a few hours the shield of the monster i’m working on… here it is…maybe i’ll add some bump details on the skull part like on the horns, but it’s pretty much done

going on with the work…for now i left the game model apart in a corner and i’m having fun making this “maquette style” composition.
Added the shield to the model, some touch-ups and added the base for the maquette, with some rought environment.
i hope you like

hey guys, it has been a while since i’ve posted the last update…christmas and new years eve kept me pretty busy
Here is the model with all the elements together, and also some basic compositing.
As you can see i’ve modeled a brand new sword, i didn’t like the other one that much.
i think for the bare sculpting i’ll stop here and i’ll consider this finished. At the moment i have in project to retopology and make a model of this “guy” suitable for 3ds max and mental ray.
Let me know what you think. Cheers

No crits… just wanted to subscribe to your thread.

Thank you very much for your comments guys, really appreciated!

x Slangford: amazing works dude, i’ve taken a look to your wips and your blog-folio, i remember well the magic staff you did for the 3d total contest, a nice piece  let’s keep in contact.

Cheers

Really nice sculpt !!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

Gemini Creature

I really like them, very cool!:+1:

Hi… really great WIP :+1: Can´t wait to see more

After the retopology of the body i got many troubles to understand how to render and make a displace map work with mental ray with good results…in the end today looks like i achived a decent result, mix of displacement, cavity and normal map as well…
I’m not so sure that baking a normal and a displace from the same hi res model and applying both of them in rendering is correct…i hope someone who knows much more than me in this subject will come and help me :ex:

Anyway here are the renders with a daylight system…let me know something (the constrast is probably too much, i’m sorry for that but i was in a rush :stuck_out_tongue: )
