Anatomy Study

Hi,
This was done as a uni project. The intention was basically to study the forms created by different types of human anatomy, and how anatomy can be a foundation for character design. The morphing thing was just to demonstrate how all these different characters can be created because they are all just variations of a single structure.

I was pretty limited by time and other projects, and I would have loved to have been able to really refine the models, and texture them and whatnot.

Anyway, here’s the link to the animation - its 40mb and ~35 seconds long:

Any feedback at all would be great

No replies eh? Ok fair enough I suppose it’s a bit of a hefty download, especially as I didn’t explain what is actually in it.

Basically it’s a normal guy who morphs into a muscular daemon, who morphs into a fat troll, who morphs into an old wizard, who morphs into a zombie, who morphs into a cherub. That way I got to explore most different types of human anatomy, albeit not in as much depth as I’d like to.

Topology was roughed out in maya, and rigged with a rig capable of squashing and stretching. Poses were done using the rig in maya and then taken to Zbrush for modelling. The morphs are a combination of rig, blendshapes, and displacement maps. Unfortunately, I think some of my maps were too low res, and some of the finer details are lost in the render. But I suppose this project isn’t really about fine details anyway.

Even though the project is “finished” (read - no time to work on it), I’d still love some crits, things I could improve on next time (i know there are a lot)and such.

Here’s some screengrabs from Zbrush.

Ok quick update to try and generate some interest, here’s a couple of the other models used in the animation:

…maybe you post some screenshots too?

the funny thing is that you got 3 x 5stars, and not a one response, i like this work, but there are some natomical issues, mostly around the arms, but ass whole i think its ok :]
And teh animations kicks ass :stuck_out_tongue:

Abyssis, there are screens :] Bet you have the same problem as i, aand cant ee the pics sometimes :]

Welllll I was kind of reluctant to do that since I don’t actually have any render frames on my computer here (they are in uni), so anything I post will be compressed… but here you go  These are shots taken mid-morphing

Hi glad you like it, any chance you could go into detail with the anatomical issues? I’m happy to take harsh criticism on this since trying to get it right was the aim of the project. There are some areas that I’m not particularly happy with (including some things in the arms, as you mentioned), but I want to see what other people see.

i would like, but my eanglish vocabulary wont let me :] Ask voodoomonkey for help, he seems to be good a this, and knows alot :]
btw, damn i have a borring work, 3/4 of my time im just setting in front of pc and doing nothing, what are thay paying me for ?? :] lol :stuck_out_tongue:
