good job.

Hi Yansan! Thanks for posting the clay sculpt pic! It looks very, very good! Would love to see more views! Hands sculpt looks great too. Quote:“but I’m more focused on structure at the moment” that’s good man, pays off big time :+1: !

thanks lijueshi. Etcher, here are some other views of the clay ecorche. i also did another quick little study of an ear. i messed around with rendering the study with cloth like a still life, although I’m not sure i like it.

Thanks for posting the other views of the écorche! I think it’s a great sculpt :+1: ! On the ear pic: the cloth should maybe be a bit more lit so that the ear casts more of a visible shadow on it - now it floats a bit.

Amazing thread, I really enjoy watching your stuff,

If I get alot of money ( I mean when, whuhaha:evil: ) I would definitly buy a (real) sculpt from you, I think it looks real cool:+1:

I like the female form, it’s not a pornstar look but more of a old saggy woman which I find interesting ( in an artistic kind of way:P)
The horse looks strong and gloryful (is that a word?:P)

KUDOS!

p.s. about Da Vinci, in that time it was not unusual to sell a ‘body’ (prostitute or whatever) when they deceased, to scientists for the purpose of anatomy studies and such, I guess Leonardo was amongst them…

See ya!

Edit: I forgot to ask! what kind of material did you use for the sculpt??

@ Etcher - thanks. i agree about the cloth, it does make it float.

@ Slice - thanks very much, it’s very flattering that you’d like to buy a sculpt. i sculpted it with Roma plastilina oil based clay. although now the ecorche sculpt is essentially ruined and i plan to use the clay for something else. however, in the future i plan on making another, better ecorche sculpt in clay hopefully then i will know how to cast it in some form and possibly reproduce them for sale. in interested in creating a few different poses, but we’ll see what happens. thanks for the compliments.

here are a few more small, boring studies. i have decided to include a little stone sculpture of a nose i did. i’ve always wanted to try sculpting in stone, even when i was little and didn’t create much artwork. i got a few little peices of stone and some little rasp tools, i don’t really have much money for anything more, so this is all i was able to use. from this little stone nose is what made me decide to create these little studies in zbrush. i put a little more detail into the mouth/ lips study, but you can’t really see them. i tried the cloth again for the zbrush nose, still experimenting with presenting the study in a more interesting way.

fantastic work. Love the clay scupt you did. very neat.

I really like your clay sculpt, would be nice to see figures in motion or some dynamic poses/expressions.

thanks for posting, always inspiring to see others dedicated to anatomy.

this is a superb collection, Im learning alot just looking, very nice indeed. thanks for sharing

steve

nice models - i like the mouth!
how do you model the corner?

Absolutely outstanding work. Brilliant. 10/10 from me.

Keep up the great work.

Paul.

10/10 for me as well.

You asked for critique, I am by no means at your level, but the Tensor Fascia Lata looks a little off angle wise to me in your first posted figure. As I recall it is attached to the iliac crest just posterior to the ASIS–which you have, but the angle looks extreme as it slips into the iliotibial band. I am sure you had references, so I could be off. But seems a little off to me. That is all I could find. Great stuff.

brettsinclair - thanks you very much. your work is great

Morph Division - thanks. i agree about the boring poses. some of them were for a class where we weren’t allowed to pose them and i didn’t want to work on them anymore. hopefully i’ll make some new models with more interesting poses soon enough.

digi-mech - thanks

Zsmith[21] - thanks. the mouth is actually modeled after my long time girlfriend, i may try to do a bust of her. there is actually a small scar on her lip that i really like that i don’t think i made visable enough. the corners always annoy me with polygons. maybe i’ll post a wireframe so you can get a better idea of how it looks.

paulcopeland - thanks

therasoft - thanks, i’ll take a look at it. i’m sure there are many small issues in the first one. that was my first full body sculpt in zbrush and first ecorche.

may be a bit of a delayed response to some comments, i don’t get notifacations of responses. i haven’t done much digital work lately, i had one small freelance job and was trying to spend time with my lovely lady before she took off to India for 5 months. i’ll try to get some models up soon.

in the meantime, i thought i’d post some traditional sculpts. i’m always not supposed to post them since it’s not digital or zbrush. since digital sculpting and traditional sculpting have alot of the same principals and i think they’re good supplements for each other, i figured i would.

Really nice clay sculpts, man. The male bust looks great so far. The female’s face feels off but her body looks good. I think her eyes feel too tall.

yeah, i think there is a few things that help it to look a bit weird in that way. i’m not sure if i’ll go back and fix it or just move on to another project. i also forgot to mention that the bust is 10" in height and the lady is 14"

mmm great sculpts! :+1:

beautiful traditional sculpts. Really makes me want to go grab some clay.
your forms are very simplified and elegant, its something I’ve always admired in peoples art.

Your work is phenomenal! I have no critiques, just really love the work. Great job on everything :+1:

If this was a traditional sculpting forum you’d go top row as soon as you showed up :D:+1: But zbrush still isn’t it. I’m givin 4, cause it just doesn’t seem fair, perhaps I can get top row because I know how to cook :laughing:small_orange_diamond:+1:

Hey Yansan, thank you so much for posting those real life sculpt pics! They really show me why you are such an accomplished digital sculptor! :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: ! This is why I like Zbrush so much, this program really lets us blend the traditional with the digital.

More, please! .
