alpha wrapping question

I’ve been try to find out how you wrap an alpha around a cylinder ive used the wrapping function, but dont get the results that i want i was wondering what workflow people use to do this

Depends on what I’m doing. Sometimes I like to use radial symmetry in my brush (with the alpha applied), rather than wrap the alpha. Other times I’ll use the repeating alpha as stencil with Wrap mode on, though I will only don 90 degrees at a time to avoid projection distortions. Sometimes I will apply the alpha like a texture using the “Mask Alpha” feature from the Masking tab.
