Alpha trouble

I have created a little detail Mesh in 3ds Max that i wanted to use as a stamp in ZBrush.
So i made a Zdepth render in max and saved it as a 32 bit png file.
When i try to load it as an alpha nothing happens. There is no programm feedback the alpha is not loaded.
So i saved the in max still opened renderoutput again as a

  • 16 bit greyscale png
  • 48 bit psd
  • 16 bit greyscale tif
  • 48 bit greyscale tif

as with the first png file zbrush did nothing when attempting to load the 16bit gs png.
It responded with an error message to both of the tif files.
The Psd was loaded but ended up broken.

I had the same result going from 16 bit to 32 bit psd but the 16 bit psd works for me. Maybe thats the limit? GL.

zakcat.

Try 8bit, I think there are bugs right now.

I think 16 bit will work on 512x512 size or smaller. Anything bigger will have to be 8 bit.

16 bit psd works for me. Maybe thats the limit? GL

the psd is 16 bit (per channel) and its smaller than 512x512.

It was possible to open the uploaded jpg without problems but I was keen on preserving as much
Information as possible for future use in my workflow. The Zdepth render turned out to be not quite good as well
and would need tweaking to capture the 45 degree angle on the outer rim.

Maybe its a thing with the max export module. I think its strange that zbrush could not
import any of the formats though it claims to read all of them.

For now i just used GoZ and GrabDoc to get around this. It needed a bit of cleanup before grabbing though.
