Alpha Tiling on Cylindrical Object

I’m working on a sword and would like to add a pattern to the handle, using alpha tiling. The problem is, when my pattern reaches the backside of the cylinder, the pattern gets inverted. Is there any way I can fix this or go around it somehow?

use inflate brush (It displaces polygons along normals) or use noise maker, but you have to setup your uvs before, though. You can also use backface automasking so the pattern won’t apear on the other side. Hope that helps.
