alpha masks and topology issue

hey all!

i have a issue concerning alpha-masks. i have made a picture to help show the problem.. say i have a model with topology like in no.1 and 2... but would very much like a masking result like in no. 3 -with clean lines. is there any way that can be archieved? i need the fine clean masking lines because i already have the desired alpha and have to edit the mesh according to the alpha later on. -and end up with a decimated mesh. Is this mesh unwrapped, and you apply texture from which you make masking ?
If so, maybe try extracting mask on higher sub-d level.
But i think you neeed to work on the topology ?! Add some more detail to the base mesh before importing to ZB.
Actually i never had such a problem with extracting masking from texture - if your model is uwrapped correctly.
