Alpha GrabDoc showing white silhouette but no grey info

  1. Made overlapping scales

  2. Pressed GrabDoc in the alpha palette

Problem.: In the alpha palette I’m seeing the totally white silhouette of the overlapped scales I made…but there are no grey values. The scales are represented as pure white and the background is the solid grey all alphas have.

Why isn’t the Alpha Palette’s GrabDoc capturing the depth information??

EDIT: Subsequent different tries with different tools have worked as expected but am still not sure why the first one was a solid white silhouette.
