Aligning Zspheres

I am following a couple of Zsphere tutorials(Birth), but i am having trouble keeping the model from getting twisted because I don’t know how to line up all my Zspheres so they are all facing front/back.

I have tried changing each of the ‘Activate Symmetry’ options, as well as the Transform sub-pallete right above it with more X, Y, Z buttons to select for rotation.

If you notice from my picture there are THREE pallets under transform that all have to do with movement, kinda confusing.

So far I cannot rotate the original/first Zsphere, but I can rotate the second one, but only around one direction (not sure which).

How can I rotate both around different axis?

A ZSphere can only spin around its Z axis (the line that connects it to its parent). You can’t do anything to the root ZSphere, though.

To get your ZSpheres nicely lined up, construct them with two axes of symmetry active. For example, if you want them all along the model’s Y axis, turn on X and Z symmetry. When you mouse over the root ZSphere you’ll see four circles. Where the circles overlap and turn green you’ll be exactly on the model’s Y axis.

Another tip: If you want a line of ZSpheres, don’t construct multiple ZSpheres and move them into position. Instead, construct one and move it to where you want the last one. Now (in Edit>Draw mode) click on linking spheres that you want to turn into ZSpheres.
