Align zspheres

I’m new to Zbrush so I apologize if this is a common newbie mistake. I have this issue when drawing zpheres, because it seems there are no tools to align those on x,y,z axis.
I have read about the zif plugin, but it doesn’t exist for version 3.1

Any other workaround to correctly draw and position aligned zspheres ? Thanks.

Generally Zspheres are sort of free hand but using the shift key whilst drawing them will snap them in to make them symmetrical if you have symmetry selected under transform.

From Transform for have a range of option to perform all sorts of Symmetry.

With shift you just build a zsphere identical to the previous. I understand that it’s like modeling clay, but it seems odd to me that there are no settings to perfectly align zspheres. How can you build a perfectly symmetrical object in that case ?

The trick is to use an additional symmetry option.

For example, let’s say that you want to align the ZSpheres along the model’s Z axis. To do this, you would turn on X and Y symmetry. When you move your cursor over the model you’ll see four red circles. When those circles merge and turn green, your ZSphere will be created exactly along the Z axis.

If you want an easy and quick way to get so called “perfectly aligned” ZSpheres, fill a layer with a color/material, hit up a ZSphere, when creating press Shift, hit the edit button, then move the crusor somewhere on the canvas press shift and tap, the same sized ZSphere will then appear where you tapped release shift then you will be able to scale it up or down by moving the cursor. Wa La.

You can also create a plane then append a ZSphere as a subtool then the ZSphere creation will stick to the Topology of the plane.

Hope that helps.

Thank you very much for these advices. Probably they could be included in the Pixologic Zbrush tutorials.

THANK YOU SO MUCH :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :+1: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:
