[align] Align an imported OBJ to another mesh

Hi guys.

I’ve got an issue here:

  • I have 2 meshes in Zbrush.
  • One has been sculpted in Zbrush and the other one has been “Goz’d” from Maya
  • They are exactly identical, polycount, etc… the same.
  • They have different orientation in space

I need to position them exactly the same in order to project high frequency details. Align them or overlap them, whatever the term.

It’s so simple but I’ve been struggling for couple of days: I’ve tried with set pivot, deformations but I can’t find an exact way to make them have the same coordinates in space.

Any clues?
Thanks a lot!

Good luck. Do you have this? http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?161588-quot-Axis-quot-Plugin-for-ZBrush-4r2
The next step is to get to the sliders in the deformation panel, enable and disable axis movement, makes smaller tweaks easier than ones in Geometry pallette (I think) You could Unify each and see if that does it. You might not want to do that though. http://docs.pixologic.com/reference-guide/tool/polymesh/deformation/

Try “Tool > Deformations > Unify” on both subtools.

Thanks guys for the suggestions.

Unfortunately I cannot move the mesh from Maya because I have an enormous amount of layers of fibermesh moved and tweaked in Maya. If I scale, move or rotate it in Zbrush it won’t work anymore in Maya.

That’s why it’s a challenge: I can’t use unify on both

I thought there was a script to do that. Still searching. One could be coded.
