Alien ZBrush-C4D

looking great.

I can’t help you with the upload problem  . I never did any upload here on Zbrush Central.

Peace,
Rich-Art.

Quentin, if you make your images max. 30 cm/72dpi and <200kb you have no problem. Too big images, more as 30 cm will give troubles.

thanks Bas!!:D:D

Hello quentin77,

can you show a render from Cinema4D without the normal map.
Just the plain character, the way it came out of ZBrush?
I would love to see that.

Peace,
Rich-Art.

RichArt
Here some renderings of the two kind of maps.
The model (also an alien) was made in C4D, detailed and textured in ZB. The displacementmap was made in ZB and the normalmap was made from the displacementmap in Cinema.
I work on a Mac and do not have the ZMapper plugin ( :td: ). But I think there will not be any different using a normalmap from ZB or C4D.

Can you post your setting ? Please… Baz , great to know that you’re a mac user with c4d !

Smileman, here are the settings I used for the image.
Do not forget to flip the textures and the displacementmap vertical. When you make a normalmap in C4D(9.5) you have to flip it again in photoshop if you want to use it with the texture. Or you can flip the texture in Phs if you want the unflipped normalmap  Don’t get flipped

Hi Bas,

Thanks for the renders. Amazing those Normal maps.
Nice looking Alien arm you got there.
I get the hang of it, slowly but I will get there…

Peace,
Rich-Art.

Still wrestling with bones in C4D
But slowly I start understanding this puzzle

Yes learning how to use Bones in C4D is ! Eheh… really a Puzzle!
Thanks Bas for settings!

Boning is no problem (at least not for me), rigging in Cinema4D is not that easy.
But you can always grab the great CDIKTools plugin from Cactus Dan.
Or even better, use MotionBuilder.
Arggg I need A truck with lots of money…

@quentin77
Gone show you more of your work with this great combo C4D->ZBrus->C4D ??

Peace,
Rich-Art.

quentin, forget the IK and start with sliders like Poser, it is the best way to control that flying-around bones

Hmm, I did use the IK Tool but I mixed up some different ways to use the bones. In the beginning this is hard to understand. Maxon is not realy clear about this but the tutorials of Kiwi brought a lot of help. Glad to see you work with ZB. I hope Maxon will have a good look at ZB, and change the way of sculpting.

Thank you, Mr.Mazur ! ( I think so, they’re some weight brush, picasso, no … in C4d)

Yes indeed, maxon’s C4D is not the best program for Boning, rigging and character animations.

Nice 3DKiwi, always willing to help. Big thumbs up for him.

And yes it is nice to play with Zbrush, altough it is a bit hard to get the grip on.
Real differend compared to C4D.

Peace,
Rich-Art.

PS: @quentin77
Sorry for all this off topic…
Back on topic right now…

I post soon the lowpoly model and some other c4d/ZB works, thanks Bas, i love sliders but i have a lot to learn! for now i’m finish to follow the Mocca2Fundamentals. you know some other tutorials?
bye!

Yeah, quentin, keep going. Buon lavorato! If you want I can make a clear tutorial for you how to make the bones controled with sliders!

RichArt, this is the best place to learn ZBrush, here you find a lot of tutorials and scripts!

Really?! :o Man it’s a dream?? THATS AWESOME !!! :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:D

Here is the tutorial. I tried to make it easy to understand. Try it and if you have some questions (I hope not  ) just ask.
