A suggestion. I always find the patterns in nature to be the coolest. I’d mute the colours a bit for your folla and put the bright colours on the extremities. 
EDIT: This include clothing, buildings, etc.

In the park with other people walking their dogs. If you’re really into it have them all staring with various expressions. With a space around your characters defining the natural way people act.
Of course, you could just put them on an alien beach with 3 suns, purple water, orange waves, black sands, ooooh wait, that’s probably been done a million times…
