Alien skateboarder

Hey guys. Here is my personal project. An alien skateboarder.
There is no story for this character. I just wanted to practice the clothes sculpting and try out maya’s skin shader. There are two shirts. For the final render I went with the easier one)
Software used: Zbrush, maya, photoshop, mental ray.
Hope you like it.

what did you use for the cloth shader?

Framedworld: I used mia_material_x for everything, except alien himself.

I like. The clothes came out nice. Maya renders always come out so nice. Is maya hard to learn. Im using 3ds max at the moment but I am looking at learning maya soon. Nice model and image

really great man… amazing :+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:small_orange_diamond:+1:
can i ask you something ? i always have a problem with 2 layer surfaces like those awesome shirts you sculpted … when i want to work on those layers i cant control them and they always stick together and when i want to bake some maps from it some places will be dark and black cause of those parts … can u tell me how do u work on them ? … maybe work on a 1 layer surface and then use some shell or something ?
thanks

now that is good
thanks for that

Thanks guys!
soulty666: Trnsition from one package to another shouldn’t be too hard, especially since both maya and max are Autodesk. It all depends how deep you want to go. There are mental ray and Vray for max as well so you can also have amazing renders in 3ds max.

mahamb: Thanks. I break the mesh into separate groups. When I bake, I bake first the whole thing and then each group at a time. After that I just compose my bakes in photoshop. I attached the image with the shirt broken into groups that I had. Hope that helped.

woo nice work.texturing is good n clean.but palm is not correct pls check out the anatomy of palm.other wise nice concept. :+1: :+1:

beautiful dress!
i had a similar idea, but only in concept.
one day i will realize it!

Awesome render and sculpt! :+1:

thanks man:) but you didn’t get me … i mean how do u make thick layers? like that shirt? it’s pretty hard to work on 2 close layers that make the thickness …thanks again

mahamb: I make basemesh in maya and extrude it for thikness. In zbrush I work with Backface auto masking selected. When the backside of the cloth overlaps the front side I pull it from the inside with backface masking active.
