Hello. Here is my alien head. Is this good? I need feedback.
Hi there,
It looks really good. What I would recommend is focusing on one or more of the facial characteristics. If you look at cartoon characters, you’ll notice that they are never completely proportional because that it boring. They will have a big nose, big eyes, big eyes with a small nose and big mouth, or whatever. I would recommend you do something like this in order to make him a bit more interesting.
Adam
Was he going for cartoony? love the shader man, was this a zbrush render or external?
i like your alien, i did one of my own as well (about one evening work) its not as good as some other work in here but, i have a lot of trouble using multimarkers, for some reason it never works properly (after fiddling with it for 3 hours i decided to never touch that tool again), also i get frequent crashes when switching from projection to edit mode in high res (its only subdiv 5)…so i kinda got fed up with working on it, since my workflow was being interrupted too much. anyway if this sounds familiar and anyone knows a fix on multimarkers plz give me an update…the artifacting in the left eye happened on a pick up to edit mode…its probably my incompetence in using zbrush2. i dont really know how to fix it. still i think it came out ok, but i need to stay away from zbrush for a while now or ill smash my keyboard.

Hey thanks for the replies!
This is a render in 3ds Max using Mental Ray.
I’m using depth of field.
Displacement and bump maps from Zbrush2.
I was trying some SSS in Mental Ray so I think that helped.
I was not using Multi Markers. I find them problematic.
I just model the head and the eye sockets in Zbrush and then add spheres in 3ds Max.
I like the design myself. It is not quite cartoony but rather just has some exaggeration and caricature while going for a semblance of accurate anatomy.
I really like this alien. The alien seems very wise and calm. Keep up the good work.
