alien gas harvester (fin)

Hey guys, I finished up this gas harvester a couple months ago and never got around to posting it. Here’s the finished result. The goal was to create something fantasy driven but subtle enough to seem as though it could feasibly exist. I wanted to also create something wholly from myself w/out mimicing someone else’s work or using another’s concept. I knew i wanted this alien gas harvester to be an older blue collar worker with more common apparel and gear but worn and used. I also knew i wanted to keep fairly human-esque anatomy and proportions so i could also turn it into an anatomy study. I was hoping to portray a sense of ‘worn determination’ and went w/ the specific proportions to portray, via larger hands and feet, that he worked a lot w/ his hands and was on his feet all the time. I went w/ the evolved/engorged olfactory glands as the point of his alien-ness. They aid in his gas harvesting by allowing him to detect subtle molecular changes in the air.

Hope you guys like the results.

Excellent, especially the hardware. Were the hard surface items done entirely in ZBrush? :+1:

Wow, this is really great! Very clean sculpt! I like how much detail you put into his face and body, even though they are going to be cover in clothes and equipment. Great job!

this is a very nice model. I like the exaggerated proportions and the costume design the most.

I think everything about it is pretty solid. Nice work.

very nice sculpt! i likes the additional working tools you added on, gives it a nice touch.

Nice work man! Really good mix of organic, hard surface, and cloth modeling.

Great stuff!!! :+1:

Thanks so much for the kind words all! much <3

EricShawn - the hard surface items i initially did in Maya and then brought into zbrush to add all the surface detail.
nate2505 - I wanted to do an anatomy study and rawk out a face so I didn’t build him in an optimal (wysiwyg) production pipeline. I have a seperate variant w/ the mask down, goggles up, and face exposed but couldn’t get the pieces to align on import/append in zbrush so those shots’ll have to wait for me to one day game rez this guy.
Beneto - I had a good idea of the clothing i wanted him to wear (something modern, functional, and rugged-ish) a lot of inspiration from soldiers in the middle-east. The hard surface stuff i didn’t really have concepted out and only had a vague idea of what i wanted to do so it took me awhile to really figure out the shapes and details more precisely.
gelfy - I’m particularly happy w/ how the beltpouch/tools/glove came out ~_^
Znudar - <3, I wanted to nail as many surface types as i could. maybe next piece’ll have to have a lot of fur in it =P
Etcher - =D

This is awesome! I love how he turned out. Can we get a close up of his shoes, Belt area and Pack? I really like how he turned out. :+1:

Cheers
