In this work, I tried to create another alien concept called “Alien from Alpha Centauri.”
I used one of my older alien models as the base mesh (originally created in Maya), then detailed and textured it in ZBrush using polypaint. The final ZTool has approximately 4 million active points. For the lighting, I set up a simple three-point system (rim, key, and fill) with ray-traced shadows. The skin was rendered using the mi_sss_fast_skin shader with 4K maps in Mental Ray, along with an ambient occlusion pass. Final 2D adjustments (hue/saturation, levels, filters, DOF) were done in Photoshop.
