Hey hey!
I am working with a band in Tallahassee Florida that is getting ready to produce their latest record and am looking to see if there is any interest from any of the awesome ZBrush Artists on this site in working with us for album cover art.
The album title is tentatively called Naughty Shadow Puppets and we are wide open to styles and concepts. Stylistically speaking, the ideas we have tossed around the table range from the amazing Ralph Steadman to a parody of a Normal Rockwell style. As you can see, we are WIDE open on visual concept. Humorous and political are definitely on the table as the record has a lot of references to politics & religion but do so with a touch of irony and satire. We just don’t want it silly or cheesy.
Concept of the art also varies on subtle interpretations - which is why we are fond of the album title. Here are somethings that have come up in discussion:
- Politicians/preachers speaking to their minions but being controlled by some sort of "shadow " entity.
- A room full of newborns with headphones being placed on them by a shadow person
- Gritty hospital room with a baby carriage with outstretched hand grasping for Something (headphones, constitution, mortgage, bible) as the shadow looks on.
- The faceless leading the blind
As far as compensation goes, the band is starting out and is really looking for a deal! The album is set for release sometime in mid September and there will be a HUGE promotional run in our region and through all of the social networks so the artist chose will have the opportunity to gain a tremendous amount of exposure. We hope that everything will take off in a big way and we will make sure that your name and your art get plenty of promo out of it as well.
All of that said, we understand that a true artist’s talent is worth compensation, we just are just hoping to find someone willing to work with us. PAYMENT OF SOME SORT IS GUARANTEED, but please remember, these guys are still starving musicians and are spending nearly everything they have to make the record a reality. Please…be gentle with your quotes!
Thanks and look forward to hearing from you!
