After work sketchbook - SR (nudity)

hey man nice work :D:+1:

I love the crab and your latest picture is looking great too.
My crit would be that im not seeing different materials yet.
Give the cloth a bigger contrast to the skin.
Also the ridge on his nose is maybe a little harsh?

anyways keep up the great work

this chinese guy is amazing looking the only things that are off to me is that the eyebrow hairs seem a little thick. and the texture in the clothes seems a little flat.

looking pretty good so far, but his lower chin/lip look a bit odd. they dont look aged, they look misshapen or something. like they were cut up, not wrinkles.

Hey Scott, another big improvement man! I’d also tweak the things that BillyT and Mdale13 suggested! Gettin’ closer and closer :+1:  !

Etcher - Ah HUUH there’s Etcher, thanks mate. Your fingers must get tired with all the typing you do on this forum

mdale13, BillyT - No problem guys I completely understand what you are saying and I will try to fix this tonight or tomorrow.

Also need to look at the clothing once the face is finished.

If this project has taught me anything it is knowing that I could do it 10 times faster the next time around

scott…stick to your guns…dont fall into the trap of listening to the anal twittering of people on here…“the nostril should be a mm over…the eye doesnt seem wet enough” etc. Keep on posting. Your character work is v cool indeed.

Pete - those are some really positive words there, from someone with such an amazing background in sculpting they mean a lot to me. Thank you.

I have finally finished my female base mesh and today I took it for a test drive.

This is just a quick test pose to see if everything is working.

Hope you guys like her.

Yeah Scott, I like it very much! Like the pose, like the cloth. The thumbnail on the bottom row really caught my eye, cause she’s radiating personality! :+1: ! And this is “just” a test drive? … wow!

the chinese head is amazing. and the girl definitely makes me think of girl from heroes… a show where cheerleader can heal and in beginning goes around trying to kill herself. animate her diving onto the concrete and you will pull in millions of heroes fans

Etcher. As always thank you for your support. I tried really hard to make the model come to life in the pose so I am glad you noticed

konjo kothar vignar. Humm interesting idea do you mind if I do make her into the cheerleader? I loved season 1 season 2 was messed up by the writters strike and then season 3 got a bit weird so I stoped watching about the time they started banging on about god.

Anyway great idea if you don’t mind me using it

The crab is back. I have basically given him another pass and this was just a test render to see how he looked.

Would love to hear what you guys think, Thanks. Onto the pose next (the fun bit)

Oh and my Blog is now up if you fancy taking a look http://scottsartblog.blogspot.com/

very impressive:cool:

Nice to see a real world model made.
Is this the highest div level? I see a bit of tearing/pixelation on main body.
I see on your blog you have tried the Decimation plugin on your Lady/woman mesh. How are you finding it to use? Once back in Maya was the resulting mesh riggable/animatable?

looking good … keep it up

The Crab is back! :+1: ! Looking better than ever! Looking forward to the scene you have in mind! Your Blog looks great - with lots of beautiful artwork… I think I’m a fan… !

Do you live by the ocean?.. Great work, I like the unnameable brain blob.

Very inspiring.

gelfling status - Thank you very much sir

mikala - Sorry mikala but this is the first pass before I edit the model. I intend to put chains, skulls, power armour and a HUGE laser turret on top of the crab. It’s the only way yo get people interested in stuff on here :D.

Seriously though it’s nice that someone appreciates real world studies. I just think studing real world subject will help me to do the monster/ creature artwork better in the future.

Oh and the bad mesh is because I still need to retop the body part, well spotted

Etcher - don’t you ever get tired of just being so damn nice :D. I am really looking forward to some more updates from you btw

jaystein777 - Do you live by the ocean? LOL no I live (currently) in the middle of Europe. Pretty far from any ocean

Just a whole lot of referance pictures and a cup of water with 30 teaspoons of salt in it next to me while I work.

Thanks for the comments Jay
