Hello
I’ve been working on a school project for a while now and the creature I chose to make is the alien from the “Alien” sci-fi movies. That black, big-headed, four-legged, acid-spitting creature you know. Im not really 100% content with my scultping but since it’s my first hi-poly model I think it’s a decent job.
I’ve unwrapped the UV’s in roadkill and imported them back - so all thats left for me now is to chose a material/shader and color/texture (I want something that looks like a wet, shiny surface - think of the alien head in these movies), and then light up a scene and render. I thought it would be best to ask for advice on that in here, seeing that there are plenty of experienced people around. So what colors/mat/shader should I use to get a good black, wet and shiny surface?
I also got two questions:
-When I start polypainting and press the col>txt button to get the texture, it’s always at 1024x1024 and I have no idea how to make that larger. I want the texture to be at least 2048x2048.
-I want a normal map. What’s the best method/workflow to get one? Should I just take the finished texture (when it’s finished) and run it through the nvidia normal map plugin for photoshop and add the bumps and holes myself? Or is there a better way?
