I mostly use my comp for 3d work with Zbrush and other softwares. But I also play games with it. I want to change my 5 year old comp for the best I can get for 1200. Can anyone give me pointers?
Depending on your old computer I would buy just some of the parts to upgrade; mainly the motherboard, cpu, ram, and video card. You can usually use the old case, hard drives, power supply, and monitor. Again it varies on your old hardware on what can be reusable or not in the new setup. Every bit saved can be used to spend on more useful upgrades, like cpu and video card. Solid State Hard drives are also worth getting one if you don’t already. I use a solid state for my operating system and programs and current projects and use my hard disk drives for archiving projects and files.
Basically nothing can be salvaged haha. Maybe the case but that’s about it. Mobo supports DDR2 RAM so I can’t re-use it. Harddrive is too small, only 300 GB, I definitely want at least 1TB now.
What do you think of this?

Plus an SSD.
Looks sweet, buy 2 and gift me one
That’s pretty close to what I’m running, except I have the i7 3770k and my video card is different.
But yeah I’d add a SSD in there and it looks great.
