Adding mesh to one side subtracts from the other side.

Hi. I have encountered a problem while modeling that I cannot figure out. I used the move and snakehook brushes to pull out the legs of my cat model, and when I try to bulk up the legs with either the standard brush or clay buildup brush, it subtracts what I add from the other side of the leg.

Here is an example of the problem: I used the standard brush to add mesh to the back side of the hind leg, and the front side becomes concave.

By default, brushes act on a spherical volume. The radius of your brush is greater than the thickness of the leg, which gives the results you’re seeing.

If you turn on Brush >> Auto Masking >> BackfaceMask you can prevent the brush from acting on polygons that face away from the clicked point. The feature was created for exactly this kind of situation.

That fixed the problem, thank you!
