adding detail

hey everyone, i have a model, 1 piece roughly 1.5 million polys. I do not want to subdivide the entire model but i do want to add geometry in face. Can I specifically add geometry to part a mesh?

  1. You can locally subdivide a mesh by hiding or masking portions of the mesh, then hitting “divide”, at the lowest level of subdivision geometry. This tends to create geometry that is problematic for sculpting, though.

  2. You can insert geometry edge loop by edge loop by using the “Edge Loops” command in the geometry palette.

3)The best thing to do, would probably be to retoplogise you mesh using the retopology tools in Zbrush to make cleaner geometry with more detail where you need it. This will take more effort up front, but pay much larger dividends in quality down the road.

thanks man I will look into the retopo thing
