Adding a modifier to materials

Is there a method of adding a modifier to a material? I would like to add cavity modifiers to a fast shader.

you could try saving a shader with cavity settings then adding it to a fast shader…I don’t know if thats possible with a fast shader tho…might not be.

but you could always modify a shader that allows cavity shading to get a flat mat.

Thanks, materials can be merged? How do you do that?

i don’t have z2 on in front of me at the moment but yeah you can merge em…or well some anyways…I think there is actually a tutorial in Z2 on that but am not sure…if someone doesn’t chime in tonight I will try to get back here with the how to’s tomorrow…well my tomorrow morning.

You cannot merge materials as such but you can copy/paste the shader channels which constitue a material.

For your example you should copy shader channel 1 (S1) of the fast shader. Locate a material with 2 shader channels, such as DoubleShade1. Paste the shader channel into S1 and adjust S2 so that the ambient, diffuse, specular and metalicity are set to 0. Now you can adjust the cavity modifiers and test render. The effect will be the same as adding cavity modifiers to the Fast Shader material

Thankyou Tveyes, that is what I was trying to get across but sometimes what is in the head doesn’t make it to the typing fingers!

arghhhhhhh

thanks
