Add thickness like when using the thickness slider when editing topology?

Is there a way to do this without having to make a zsphere, bringing in the topo of the mesh you want to add thickness to, and then moving the thickness slider?

i know you can do something similar with layers or morph targets, making a difference mesh after inflating it a little but it does not work as well (inflate does not move the points exactly as you’d want). The thickness slider works better. I tried using extract with thickness without masking anything so that it would do the whole mesh but it moves my vertices a bit, it’s not the same.

I’d imagine using the Zmodeler brush would be the easiest way. Either using Qmesh or Extrude, targeting all polygons or whichever part of the model you want to thicken. Another option is to use Tool>Geometry>Edgeloop>Panel Loops. Set your loops to 1, and polish to 0. Then whatever elevation and thickness that suits you.
