Adaptive skinning issues with polygroups

Built up a zsphere bas for a bug I’m working on, but when I use adaptive skin, all the separate polygroups I created for the purpose of dividing the sections of the carapace combine into other polygroups, rendering the technique I was practicing impossible. Friends of mine using the same method, who followed the same steps keep their polygroups. Some people have the same problem, and others don’t. We can’t find a pattern as to why it’s happening, and therefore cant fix it. Any ideas guys? Before and after pics attached. Ignore the spotify.

What version of ZBrush are you using? I seem to remember something about people that where using an older version getting stuck on ‘Use Classic Skinning’ even when it was turned off and that looks like what is happening to you. It sure looks like the polygroups you are getting after skinning is what you would get if using Classic Skinning. That doesn’t happen on ZBrush 4R5.

I’m using 4r4, but friends are using 4r5 and getting the same issues, while others aren’t.

Poll Windows/Mac on the issue. Maybe it’s specific?

No pattern. I’m using a pc, but other people are also using pcs with no issue.

Have you all tried the same .ztl with the same settings for the adaptive skin? Also you may need more zspheres than you think you might to hold your shapes. A clue there may be a problem is when they are transparent while editing.

That what I ha thought originally, but we’ve tried that, no luck. No transparent spheres while editing.

Well, maybe if you upgraded, you would be one of the ones it works for. Any particular reason you don’t want to update to 4R5. It is a free update.

I am today. I was just too busy to get around to it, and put it off for awhile.
