Hi! i’m a relative noob, trying to use a zsphere rig to pose an obj I’ve imported with existing UVs. after posing, when I press adaptive skin, my UVs are gone. wondering if there’s a way to pose using zsphere rig and maintain imported UVs? I’ve searched the forums (and the web) pretty extensively and not having any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I’m pretty sure that adaptive skin (which is usually creating new geometry) is going to kill your existing UVs. You might want to use the transpose tools (with surface masking) to pose instead.
Aurick might have a different work-around . . .

The ZSphere rigging method creates new geometry which doesn’t have UVs. So to use with your existing UVs you will need to do this:
- Create an Adaptive Skin of your rigged and posed mesh.
- Select the ‘Skin’ mesh in the Tool palette and make sure that the subdivision level is the same as your original geometry.
- Store a Morph Target by pressing Tool>Morph Target>Store MT.
- Import your original mesh with UVs.
- Press Tool>Morph Target>Switch to restore the pose.
Good solution to restoring the UVs!

Aha! After some tweaking got it to work! (had some trouble, but finally figured out i was making adaptive skin at wrong subD level) Thanks a lot for the speedy replies guys! much, much appreciated!
