Adaptive Skin Questions

I’m making my first zsphere model, and it’s been going well, however. . .

I have made an adaptive skin and done some sculpting on it. There are areas where I need to add some topology because I have pulled the points too far apart. I will also eventually need to have a higher division level than the adaptive skin density slider allows.

Can I convert the adaptive skin model into a regular tool? I no longer need the zspheres, as rigging and animation will be done in Maya.

I have not messed with the topology features yet, will ‘edit topology’ allow me to edit the wireframe, or will I have to redraw ALL the topology?

Thanks.

Click the Tool>Adaptive Skin>Make Adaptive Skin button will create a new tool that no longer has the ZSpheres but does have all subdivision levels determined by the Density slider.

Wow, thanks for the quick reply!

I actually did that already, but many of the tools I need are still greyed out (i.e. edit topology) and my divisions are still tied to the Adaptive Skin Density slider.

The ‘Preview’ button in Adaptive Skin is still lit, and the skin is still referencing the zspheres. Did I miss something?

Thanks

It sounds like after you make the adaptive skin, you’re not actually selecting it in the Tool palette. You still have your original model selected by default, which means you’re still linked to the ZSpheres.

Thanks, that’s what I was missing!
