Action figure/Moving parts base

I’d really like to get into 3D printing but I’m not sure how I’d go about designing something to work realistically as far as joint articulation. Does there exist anywhere a base set for joints like this? Or maybe even just a tutorial.

Any help would be appreciated.

I don’t know of any specific tutorial, but personally I would just grab a real toy and examine how it’s joints work (there only tends to be a few different kinds). Usually it’s the same concept: a gap in the torso wide enough for a piece to fit into and move around, but not wide enough to let it escape.

Then you could either try to find out the specific accuracy of the printer you’re using so that you’ll know how much of a space to leave between parts in order to ensure that everything gets separated correctly, or you can print the thing in parts and assemble the pieces afterwards.

I would start HERE, may as well learn from a master. Danko is the man. You will also need to understand the generic sizes of the parts, and once you do, just start banging out parts and put them in a folder. That way you can kit bash the mechanical stuff, and use them over and over. Just start sculpting in between.

exactly what i was looking for, thank you.
