Accurate positioning - repeatable

I am sculpting likenesses and one of the techniques inuse is to match the position and rotation of my refernces to compare accurately. I the go Bach and sculpt a little more. Is there a way that I can go back to the same position and rotation that it took me ages to get right?

ermmm.??? maybe you are referring to ZApplink which store the position and orientation of the model. You can find it it Document Pallete or just grab a manual how to use it.

I’ve used Zapplink before for front, side etc. Can I use it to store the position of the mesh, adjust the position to sculpt more, and then use Zapplink to go back to the first position?

yes. you need to play with it.

Sorry to be dense Noobvee, you seem to be answering my question both ways. Yes, this will store the position/rotation… and I’ll need to play with it.

Do you mean I’ll need to play with the position and rotation (which is what I’m trying to avoid), or will need to play with Zapplink.

Okay let say that you have a bg reference image. and you position the model on the top of it so you can go back. if you go to Document and click one of the button of ZApplink (e.g. Front, Back, Custom1, etc). It will store the position and you move the model anywhere and you click that button again. It will restore the last position of your model on the screen which is in the top of your reference.

Ah Cool. Will try that tonight.

OK, don’t need to bother with any of that.

Once I have the position the way I want it, I go to Texture>Image Plane and click on the button ‘Store’. Then I can do what I want with the model. Once I’m ready to look at it again, I go to Texture>Image Plane and click on the button marked ‘RePos’ and it snaps back again. Excellent.
