about generating displacement maps

Hi guys,
I’m not totally sure about this, i’ve been generating displacement maps in zbrush, 16BIT tiffs and i’ve noticed that the middle gray value is 149 instead of the 127 that i was expecting, so when i render the model, it pushes the geometry a bit, any ideas what/how to control this?

thx

Let me guess: You’re opening the map in Photoshop and checking the color value. ZBrush is creating the map with the correct value. But a common thing is for Photoshop’s automatic color adjustments feature to be on. When you import the map, Photoshop “helps” you by adjusting the colors to what it thinks will be best for the imported image. That’s bad news for a displacement map!

Thanks Aurick,

I did a search right after posting and i found the solution already, thanks for the help, my bad, i should have searched before

take care!
