A way to add resolution to just a part of a model? (answered)

Hi.

Is there a way to add resolution to only part of a model inside Zbrush? Right now I am doing that inside Sculptris and import it back into Zbrush.

Yes:

  1. At the lowest subdivision level, mask the area you want to subdivide (hold Ctrl to paint a mask).
  2. Hold Ctrl and click the background to invert the mask.
  3. Press Ctrl+D or press the Tool>Geometry>Divide button.

Can I do that only at the lowest subdivision level? Why?

You have to do it at the lowest level because otherwise you would lose the lowest level (each level subdivides each existing polygon into four). The extra polygons will be propagated to the higher levels.
