•••A Sneak-Preview of the next ZBrush-Update•••

I have been following this thread but not posting much. And I wonder how this thread turned into a running critique and comparison of various programs. Seems to me that this thread has taken a detour somewhere, and now the posts seem like they would be more appropriate in the Community forum then here.

Just my opinion…

This thread is motivated with the eager anticipation of the 2.5 update.

If you will notice it started in Nov. 04 then faded out until Siggraph. The people want to [color=red]see, touch, taste, and smell Z-brush because it is the “DoPe DiGgItY”

Everyone loves it!!!

Patience Peops!!!

hahaha Dope Diggity!

I couldn’t have put it better.

Nice use of color here

Both Silo’s and Zbrush topology brush are ‘inspired’ from Cyslice and some other reverse ingeneering software.
Each have their flaws and qualities.
It’s mainly a step forward, a and big one. There will be more freedom for the artists, and i’m very exited to see this update in action.

What he said.

A little friendly competition between developers is what drives innovation. Consumers benefit.

The territorial fanboy thing helps no one, though. This isn’t politics.

I just seen the Sig Recap stuff on the main page. I must of been under a rock. how long has it been up? some cool photos and LOVED the video!!! all the new features are amazing. I really like that flattening out the polys. thats amazing guys!

Yeah. It’s a nice short, I’m more excited that they have already posted some basic beginning PDF files for 2.5 that are downloadable. It looks like they are getting something ready today.

ahh must of just got uploaded. ya thatd be awesome if the new plugins come out shortly. I am still blown away on how easy everything looks. very user friendly!

Where did you guys see this stuff? I looked and cant find anything.

Where did you find the PDF files?? I can’t seem to locate them…

Open the gallery.

[edit]

Oops… My bad, it looks like they are gone. Must have been removed. :o

Not re-moved. Just moved; to the Tutorials forum. Click here

Yeah, some nice stuff has been shown in the Sig Recap - I think this ZSphere Rig thing will be great for posing models. I don’t really care if this is exportable, since I’ll never use it outside of ZBrush, so thumbs up here!

I’m looking forward to see how optimized ZBrush 2.5 will be - Jesus, 20.000.000 polys in real-time would be really, really awesome. Question is, do we need 64bit workstations with loads of RAM to load these models into ZBrush? My workstaiton (p4 2.8, 3gb RAM, 9700) is having a very hard time loading meshes that are above 2mio polys. 20.000.000 polys would give enough data for insane details and super-refined sculpting.

One caveat: I’d have loved to see a little more of the topology feature, that’s where my whole interest goes to: I hope you Pixologic guys work on this feature, so it can be used to fully retopologize design sculptures - If this feature works as it should, I think Boxmodeling - in many cases - would finally be dropped and we could do our work a hell lot faster, with more freedom and, of course, fun  I don’t care if it takes another year or a year and then another one or whatever, I just want to see a retopologizing tool that makes retopologizing something “natural” to work with. Currently, thanks to the technical limitations of other programs, retopologizing can be such a pain in the ass. I really hope that this’ll be the remedy!

DUH!:o I shouldn’t try reading posts after a long days work and little sleep! Sorry dumb question!!

Z2 != Z2.5

Ummm… ZBrush 2.0 is what we are using now  ZB 2.5 isn’t supposed to be released until after the new plugins have come out… at least Pixologic said the new plugins would be released first. You had me going there for a moment…

I’m sorry if this has an obvious answer, but is the Zmapper Plug-in available yet? I must be useing the wrong search terms to keep ending up with no results, because some guy just posted a front page 3D Model on CGTalk claiming to have used it in it’s creation.

Thanks.

Well, it would at z values of 0 and infinity.
