•••A Sneak-Preview of the next ZBrush-Update•••

I hear what your saying CTRL-Z, you made a good point there with pixol technology. I do beleave that they have done transparency as shown in the woman video which I now think is removed. The woman just may shown some back faces but its hard to see in video.

Your totaly right about Poser, I couldnt have out it in better words myself. This is what put me off poser as generaly we look for what others have produced from the software as a guide to how good the software is, but in reality its only how talented or skilled the user is, unless the software is too limiting. It wasnt till I was directed to a artest that has got some truly amazing results that made me think thurther and have a deeper look. If I had to gripe about anythyink its that theres not enougth programs that add a hair and cloth system such as poser. 3Ds max is cheapest that iv found that has everythink els to a high degree. Modo has a great renderer and from what I saw in their lastest video, Zbrush 2.5 needs to hit back hard. Zbrush has already got somethink to hit back with and thats its price tag which is one reason that drawed me to this program.

There had not been a post on this thread since 5-15-06 because it was LOCKED.

The question now has to be, why was it unlocked? I think it was an accident, or a glitch over the weekend. It will be gone by monday. So enjoy it while it lasts.

I’m thinking about how much will cost this upgrade, first I remember it was free, and finally, more I’m waiting ,(and listen my own dreams), more I’m thinking that’s Pixologic will have a cost for this upgrade, (not free)… I’m really thinking if they make this upgrade for free for owner of Zbrush2, I will build a sculprure for them (a real one) in my home town in Switzerland. Waiting for something you like so much… damned so long now… hey guys its finish clubbing, lets go finish this update, its not a big thing its not Zbrush3, its just Zbrush 2.5…

Ok… bye bye I’m still dying (making some test at the moment with moi3d) see ya

http://www.moi3d.com/

like tez tell you, modo - silo - hexagon- mudbox are first that show you sculpting at high levels, multires sculpting, layers sculpting, sculpting info transfert (actually maya add with v8 some interesting tool about that), the ability of scultping on multiobj, and more…

two years ago the sneak preview was amazing, now is very interesting, be cause i hate to use to much software in my workflow, and i like a lot the zbrush interface, but some workaround that i need to do to sculpt high freq dectails.

i just test mudbox, be cause ones of my friends was a beta tester, and i tried many tools of that, wih exception of high polycount used, and brush and stencil used directly on million poly mesh, i not see nothing of amazing, , only a 3d interface on a good preset brushes, but all of this features are in the zbrush 2.5 (from that i seen on movie previews + many other. but i would like to see it :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

LOL, I dont know any other company that gives their cutomers a glance of a future update years in advanced. Maybe this thred should have been called the prophecies of Zbrush V?. Sorry couldnt help that!

No matter whats said, it always ends in “It will be when it will be” only the gods of Zbrush can change that. It will remain free but maybe new perchasers will have to buy 2.5 at a higher price, it only makes sence.

Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love zbrush. I’m the first one to rave about it. But from a business stand point, they better get moving. If I am thinking what they have been thinking. It would make sense to release it in the next week or two. God forbid the latest at two months.

Problem is we are all waiting for a Date let alone the release itself so IMHO if we dont get a date by end December then I rekon it isnt going to be here for a while into 2007. Im sure Pixologic are right on it now, they wont crack under presure as they want a quality product update that works.

Im sitting it out not getting to excited untill I actualy see a date. In the mean time iv got plenty to do and learn.

Man I cant believe they will have rigging in Zbrush I CANT WAIT.

Ow but you did didnt you;) (Wait that is)

Thought it would be fun to dig this post out of the grave thats all;)
Back in 11-27-04 looks pretty cool.
that yr we had the little professor calculator, The K-Pro, and Cdos.
lol
ahh memorys

its a great read also;)

its been a long wait … and it continues … for Mac users

I agree!!! It would be nice if Mac users couls at least play around with the beta version.

It might be wishful thinking to assume there is a beta version. More likely, everything’s on hold until the PC version is stabilized – you can’t port a moving target…

Zbrush for MAc users, as tghe development takes too long to build a new Zbrush3 for MAc, we stop and try to make a new version for Vista.

HA ha ha , waiting its not the right word its hybernating…

My god… PC has already an update , I regret the days when Pixologic made Zbrush 1, 1.5… after its different… or related to money matter…

Zbrush was my favorite application and I hope she will be again , this one on my MAC…:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:small_orange_diamond:angry:

I can’t help but think of those Mac, PC commercials with that chubby, corny guy and the so called, hip dude.

In my mind the commercial goes like this…

Corny guy: Yeah, but at least we have the software, yna, yna!

LOL, sorry. I know that was cruel.

Fortunately with VMware I’m running ZB3 quite nicely on my Macs.

Remember how angry they were at Adobe’s when Apple came with OSX? How long it took to get a good version of Photoshop for it?
Not saying they’re not innovative, but they are jumping from one system to another one like grasshoppers on a hot plate.
Reminds me of the days when Jobs released a mac without cooling because it was too noisy. Whew.

It’s not Pixologic’s fault. That’s all.

Unfortunately this one is Pixologic’s fault. OSX has been essentially the same longer than WinXP has been WinXP. The big change was processor chips, which has been subtly happeing in Windows-land for some time (including XP-64). Pixologic has simply elected, for their own reasons, not apply the resources to delivering a Mac version. That’s OK, but the “blame Apple” approach is silly when you look at all the other Pro Applications that have long since delivered OSX and Universal Binary versions of their products.

Primarily Newtek and Pixologic are the “last horses” and even Newtek (with primarily one developer on Mac) has a nearly complete UB version.

It’s going to be awfully funny in my mind if Rhino, which never had a Mac version, beats Pixologic to getting a UB version into the hands of their customers.

(Heck, even Poser is OSX & UB! Sheesh . . . .)

Pix is riding their uniqueness for what it’s worth, but other sculpting options are comming on Market that don’t seem to have Pix’s problems with the Mac (or even getting their own patches out on time.)

OSX is Unix. It’s pretty rock solid. I use a Mac mini at home and a Dell 670 at work on XP professional. My Mac Mini Dual Core 1.67 mhz outperforms the Dell on many tasks.

Windows I tolerate, but it really gets in my way. XP's navigation is neanderthal compared to OSX (any version). OSX Leopard looks like another leap ahead, which will leave Vista in the dust. Visto, aside from cosmetic changes is merely another Mac OS knockoff, which all windows versions have been since Win 3.0. Microsoft never innovates, like the Borg they just assimilate. I'd switch my preference if they ever set their goals on interface excellence, but a "very hot place" will freeze over before that ever happens. Just the concept of "time machine" (one click incremental backup) alone makes it worth upgrading. I'm certain Pixologic won't fail the Mac community. ZBrush will be UB. I am patiently enjoying using ZBrush 2 until 3.0 is released for the Mac. I could have installed windows on my mini, but so far even the prospect of Z3 will not entice me to go over to the "Dark Side". Regarding the comment about windows having more apps. Most of the REALLY good stuff has moved or is moving to UB. Quantity never equates to quality. Macs have a loyal user base, because of quality. Quality is a hallmark of Apple products.

I wish that were true of Microsoft because I am required to use windows in my job. Office has been in need of an overhaul for nearly ten years. Word is a layout artist’s nightmare. Powerpoint looks like it was designed during the dark ages and has the klunkiest graphics interface of almost any product since the days of MacDraw.

What really surprises me is the corporate world always pays lipservice to innovation, and increased productivity. Yet the standard for office computing, is the standard because of it’s ubiquity, not its efficiency, or quality. It’s good to be king. Too bad… the king has no clothes.

Wilbrown1 - so… you hate PCs and MS and love Mac… okeeeey… Is it makes things different anyhow? You still dont have your Z3 and the difference between us is - you need wait while I am enjoying it NOW.

I have Z3. I’m just not going to install windows on my Mac to run it. I can wait. I’m starting up a new band “Last” - blues and rock. I have plenty to keep me busy till z3 is released for Mac. I use Z2 almost every day, and I’m enjoying it.

I don’t hate MS or PCs; 3D studio max, which I use at work, rocks. I just wish MS had done a better job on OS design from the getgo.

In ten years this mac/pc chatter will be moot. I’m hoping computing innovates to better OSs than either apple or ms produce. Compared to auto industry development, I’d say computers are barely out of the Model T phase. I want computers to advance to the point where the latest computer has advancements which make it seem like a driving modern BMW not a Model T.

I’ll be only satisfied when there is Zero latency, no matter what task asked of a computer. It always should work at a speed where the user never experiences any interuption or delay in getting work accomplished.

Hot diggitydog!! I cannot wait til my new computer arrives now so I can get zbrush set-up and running and waiting for this new marvel of an update.
