Great! I love the Gears of War proportions too

Did you do the armor in ZBrush too?

nice!
Gears totally inspirational!
Keep Rocking!

Dangerously similar to Vitaly Bulgarov’s Rabagh. I think the amount of work here is very impressive, it is a very complex character and a lot of care and time went into this guy. Overall great craftsmanship in the sculpt, I just think the design could have been pushed further to make it something more unique. Keep up the awesome work

Thanks Kptoons, Vitaly Bulgarov is a awmazing artist.I 'll make my next design better:)

seems like you started with Rabagh as your base mesh and then reworked him, the pose it’s very recognizable…

It’s not a copy! the hands have 3 fingers and Vitaly’s has 4! BAHAHAHAHA!

I believe we have all seen Vitaly Bulgarov’s work, and it is inspirational, but it doesn’t take away from onrew’s work. Great sculpt Bro… Kuddos!!! :+1:

Here is textures
A-SAVAGEBEAST_04.jpg

I have to agree with machado. Similarities aside, it’s still a fantastic piece of modeling.

This is awesome…looks like barracka from MK

It seems to have been inspired by that piece, yet this is a unique character. A massive amount of work went into this is it shows. well done indeed. Could perhaps show the model in an engine setting? Such as the unreal editor. Could be fun. Also a turn table would be nice

The overall body is definitely inspired by Bulgarov, still looks alright though. In my opinion, I feel the face should be reworked; it doesnt look as awesome as it could.

I like the textures on the armor; im a fan of textured highlights :stuck_out_tongue: I think it adds to the badassery on this guy especially.
Good job regardless. =]

Take inspiration from Vitaly and not his designs. because all it does is cause
conversations like this and ruin the effort you put into it. Why would you want
to do someone elses design when you have obvious talent and an
understanding of your tools? It doesn’t make sense to me. Changing a painting
from 2D to 3D is another story and I would applaud that.

Thanks all your advices, every instance is good for me,and I’ll improve on my next concept ,make it more unique:)

so he copied vitaly, and vitaly copied epic. nobody was whining then, so who cares?

it’s obviously not a dupe, and while it is heavily inspired by vitaly’s work, it’s obviously unique. it’s a good job overall, congrats… can’t wait to see your next character!

Everything has been done before , just like every word has been used in some book. You can obviously tell onrew put in tons of work into this and nothing will take that away from him.

Good work, Onrew. Don’t let those negative comments hinder you from creating your next awesome work.

wow looks great man~!!

the design isnt vitaly"s. its kevin lannings. he was the lead modeler for the 2 gears of war games and vitaly bulgarov even gave credit to gears of war in his thread.

and i quote- “I was inspired by awesome “Gears Of War” It’s not an attempt to copy an original game style.
I just wanted to make something worthy of such cool universe and put all what I love in 3d shooter games”

then he made a gnomon tutorial. because it is a tutorial, if people happen to own it, they proboboly have at least attempted it or finished it. so it wouldnt be so outlandish that they would have a similar piece of work. if you do a tutorial of a car, would you not come out with a car?

either way… gears of war inspired alot of people. but the gear modeling style and the crazy detail in the scarring and the texture of the skin is kevin lanning. no question. vitaly was essentially learning lanning’s techniques when he did the character everyone is referring to.

not everyone that does the terminator, the predator, or a t-rex gives credit to stan winston. not everyone that does an “alien” gives credit to h.r. Giger.
