A question with highly detailed model

Hi,
If I have a highly detailed model, does that make it diffucult to render in an animation software even if the character doesn’t move? What I mean is I have a scene where I have made a highly detailed manequin and it just stands there. The camera zooms around it, but the character itself doesn’t move.

So would details and meshes effect the render times in a situation like that?

Thanks

Yes of course it affect the render time even the character doesn’t move (when it move even worse). As far as I know only ZBrush that can handle millions of poly in real time. For animation software, example Max/ Maya/ Lightwave/ etc, we normally use normal maps, bump maps, displacement maps in order to get that details back.
