Hi dreamreef,

What you can do is put your model in a front view and mask half of the model (the good side) and go to the lowest SubDiv and press ReSym (Tool/deformation). That will “copy” the masked part to the other side. This will give you -in most cases- a symmetrical model. Then you just go up one level at a time and press the ReSym button in each level.

That might help you.

The thing why one ear is different from the other might be because of 2 reasons:

  1. You don’t have on the x Symmetry on (transform/x button) This will do the same modeling you’re doing on the other side
  2. You have the x symmetrical button on but your model isn’t symmetrical.
Hope that helps… and leave those hairs alone

Well, now we know what his ‘good side’ is. The good ear will certainly get there. Nice earlobe, I found that a difficult shape to make myself somehow. Do you have good reference pictures? Those help a lot. The other ear: naaah, it’s not down the street, not even in another room. From here it looks like a part of it goes into the main model. Maybe the model wasn’t truly symmetrical to start with… Can you send a closeup in different positions? The option you allways have is to go back to a low subdivision level, take the smooth brush and melt that obstinate ear to Kingdom Come! Then you can start with a fresh slate on one ear without having to redo the whole head. Take care not to have mirror on then, or you will discover after some hard work that the good ear was ruined, and then you’ll probably pull out those last few hairs…

That tip from Elarcano came in simultaniously, and it’s a good one. Didn’t know Zbrush could do that, thanks buddy! Then you can work on the good ear and just copy. Good for lazy people .

Hi elarcano & Plakkie,

Well I’ve tried the ReSym and it makes a worse mess than it looks now (as though I’ve bashed him about on concrete… )

So what I’ve decided to do is take a short break from him and try again to sort that ear out…If I can’t get it right then I will have to start his ear again :frowning:

I know I did this the wrong way but all of him is done by memory…don’t ask me of who because I don’t know… …If I start a model again at some point I will have to use some reference pictures…maybe I could get it right then…

Thanks for the help

Same thing here, having fun with a model that has much mistakes and a faulty base, but it’s nice to just struggle along and see what happens. You could allways call your latest work “Concrete Collision”.

LOL…I like that name Plakkie

I’ve had words with this guy and told him that as from next week he’ll have to get serious and let me get that other ear right…BUT what can I do… He’s a typical man and never does as he’s told…

Having fun is what life’s all about…

Dreamreef

Threaten him with another concrete collision! Threaten him you’ll squash up his other ear as well, and stretch his nose so far out he could smell China!
Better yet… tell him you will paint him pink and put lipstick on his mouth!!!

If that doesn’t work…
