A little help would be most appreciated

Hey guys

Im very new to Zbrush, only about 2 months old - Im having trouble with a minor thing and thought someone here might be able to shed some light upon it.

In the documentation I found this:

Quick One-Touch Masking of PolygroupsMasking out particular parts of your models can be a tedious process – especially when it’s a complex model. However, if your model has PolyGroups this can become a very quick and easy process. Simply press W or click the Move button and then Ctrl+Shift+click on any PolyGroup. All other groups will immediately be masked.

However, I cant make it work for me. What I get is small dots of masks everytime i click on the polygroup.

Thanks in advance

Some of the docs need updating, but that works for me. What version of what OS and ZBrush version are you using?

Works for me too. Remember, you have to be in Move mode for it to work.

In Draw Mode, if you have polygroups you can also Ctrl-Shift-click on a polygroup to hide everything but that group, then Ctrl-click on the canvas to mask the visible polygroup. Ctrl-Shift click on the empty canvas to reveal the rest of the mesh. Ctrl-click the canvas again to Invert the mask, thereby leaving all but the selected polygroup unmasked.

As for the “dots” thing, it sounds like your mesh is irregular in some fashion, but I couldn’t guess without getting a look at it and what you were doing in the program. In the meantime, try the operation with a different polymesh.

Hey guys

And thanks alot for taking the time to answer. Now however it works spendid
I have no idea why it didnt work before, seems absolutly fine now.

Spyndel: Thanks for that Draw-mode trick!
