A little help with tools and subtools please?

Im new to zbrush coming from another 3d program and used to manipulating objects in a 3d space. Im learning well how to do this I think and have just mastered the transpose tool. I cant seem to wrap my head around the tool/subtool business. Does anyone know of a good tutorial for this somewhere. I cant find anything in the Z Docs about it. Loading tools, appending tools, subtools, saving tools. I seem to be all confused about this, losing tools when i load another and just not being able to keep track of my objects. You see im used to having my objects in a scene and having them grouped and organized like a traditional 3d app. Thanx

ZBrush is a wild animal ;). Sorry this thread is so old>>http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?9095-NEWBIE-LESSON-ONE-The-Interface
Lots of info on the forums. Did you read your docs? http://docs.pixologic.com/getting-started/basic-concepts/

Links below his post are good too. You’ll want this>> http://www.zbrushcentral.com/showthread.php?161588-quot-Axis-quot-Plugin-for-ZBrush-4r2&highlight=Axis+PLUGIN

Its better to think of the interface as more of a painting canvas like in photoshop, vs a traditional 3d application. It’s not like you have a vast virtual world and are placing models at different coordinates around this space while moving a virtual camera through it. Instead you basically have an image document made of pixels, with your model (tool) floating around on top of it. The tool can have other models (subtools) that are positioned relative to it, but its otherwise just a model that you’re spinning around in place vs orbiting a camera around.
