Just so you know I’m not totally nuts, here are some plague bearers.
Note the single eye, distended bellies, hygiene that only a gamer could relate too…

indeed, really looking great, Jason! I love it, ZSpheres in perfection
That is creepy billrobertson42! We don’t think your nuts, no, no I mean it, really, really we don’t, noway, uh-uh, no siree…
froyd, good to know you’re still with us and thanks, this fella was a real hoot to work up from the cool design Atwooki showed me. He has 2 versions of his, that I hope will appear somewhere in the forum soon. He’s really slow, stiching all those little polys together, looks like he’s doing needle point!
Ah… so astutely observed billrobertson42 :

Wow, I thought we might get some more work from people here after I posted Cy-Surfer, maybe more questions, or ideas. Perhaps we have covered all that can be covered. Oh well, we’ll see how things go over the next month as I see and have posted to several people concerning zsphere issues they have encountered on their own threads, but many seem to be hiding for some reason.
I don’t think this thread should go dormant, but if it’s value has diminished let me know, we’ll all move on.
actually im working on a homer simpson zsphere model. im having trouble with the hands cause the polygons are creasing. but ill be posting that soon
im just trying to work the kinks out cause i dont wanna look stupid. there are some intimidating work out there and trying to measure up is hard
How can you look stupid? We all started out having issues. Your questions and examples will help others. Don’t be intimidated, every one of us can be shown up daily. I’ve just gotten used to it I suppose.
okay here is homer simpson. still playing with him. i wanted to try a cartoon style. i usually do realistic (or try to) so this was a little differnent for me.
He is looken sweet! Definitely want to see him finished.
as a simpsons lover i do like this keep going love to see the finnished model
¡Pixmaker, he’s great!
Would you mind uploading a zscript of this character? It would be very funny to see how you did it.
Since you stored the morph, have you tried rotating the finger next to the pinky at the hand connection towards the next finger (away from pinky). At this stage, that is your option. I’d have to see the original to be sure, but it looks like you jjust have the fingers too close to start. I would have also added another zsphere for the chest (below the arms). In fact you don’t have stucture zspheres at joints, which cause the weird deformations. Grab a sample rig in this thread and take a look for reference.
You also don’t have eyes, mouth as part of the mesh, but that is your call.
Great look so far sculpt wise, going to be hard to get poses though and keep control of the geometry.
Let me know if this is unclear.
Jason i actually have no clue what you just said about the hands.
i would give you a Zscript but i don’t know how to make one.
I just got ZBrush not even a month so im like a struggling with it. even though i read the entire manual and extensively looked at the tutorials and threads here. actually making something and developing a workflow is a differnet thing. however i dont mind giving you the actual Zsphere model. I already skinned him and multi-markered the eyes in. (just spheres) i struggled with and deleted and applied spheres over and over trying to get the correct structure of Homer. im going to post another image of him textured and sculpted and better lit along with the Zsphere model i made. this way you can see the problesm im going through as a newbie…
well here is progress 3 of homer simpson. this is a adaptive skinned zsphere model. hands are bad i know. i used my own light setup to get this cartoon look, and basicshaderB3. i painted in the black lines to keep the cartoon feel. any critz are welcomed i am kinda struggling through this. especially the zsphere structure. so im giving the actual zsphere stucture for anyone to take so you can scrutinize it.
I whipped a little helper up for you and others.
First, make a zsphere (master zsphere) hit T on your keyboard and run this script. You want to edit it or undo several steps to get back to the base pose. I’ve also added the base pose as a ztl. In this script I do some quick posing to match what you have and to help you out. I’ve added the bug eyes and mouth - all sculpting is upto you and others. This is fast and rough, so you’ll have to do some work. Morph should be stored, but make sure before any sculpting.
I’m sure with a little playing you can perfect this even further.
wow thannks alot. im gonna check it out
By the way pixmaker - under zscript in your interface window - record or stop and save recording are easy to grasp. Default is record from the time you open Zbrush.
Hey, thank you Jason. I’m sure this is going to help us.
Where are the Cliff’s Notes for this thread?
