a few basic how to questions

I’ve been watching some digital tutors videos and run into a few questions on how to do some things.

  1. In the video the author has his mesh filling the entire screen but somehow is still able to rotate and move without using the move/rotate buttons on the right. I’m guessing there’s a keyboard shortcut for this?

  2. In one of the videos they use zremesher with guides to create a new version of their model. They must be using an earlier version of zbrush because the settings they have available don’t match up with mine (I’m on 4R6). After creating the new mesh, they project the detail of the original mesh onto the new one. The problem is when I try to do that it doesn’t seem to create a new ztool, leaving the old one with all the detail for me to project on the new mesh. It just changes my current ztool. And I don’t see this as an option in zremesher to create a new ztool or subtool as the result of the calculation. Did this get changed with the latest version of zbrush?

  3. I’m trying to duplicate a sphere subtool that is an eye and I want to mirror it on the x axis. After googling that, it sounds like subtool master should do that. I tried the mirror function in subtool master while having my eye/sphere subtool layer selected but it instead appends another ztool instead of the duplicating and mirroring the active subtool. Is there a trick to get this to work or is there another way to duplicate and mirror my eye?

Thanks!

Well I found the answer to #1. For anyone who else who wonders the same thing, there’s a white frame inside the document window. If you put your mouse inside that frame/gutter area then the alt and shift keys work the same as they do if you have your mouse over a background area.
