A Cliff - Some Problems Baking Textures

Since there didn’t seem to be a troubleshooting forum anywhere, I guess I’ll just put it here:
I’ve been working on a cliff:

Now I got it all polypainted on, so it looks almost nice, but the problem is when I try to bake it on a texture map
What I do is:


  • Create new UV map (Planar)
  • Go to Texture map and map from polypaint

But the result is that the texture gets skewed to hell and back:

Is there a way to solve it or do I have to start the model from scratch?

Use UVMaster Plugin for this. It´s in Zplugin> UVMaster> Work on clone button. Now you have your mesh in one single subdiv cloned. You can use the Unwrap button. When complete you will have nice Uvs to work on. Just copy the Uvs and paste in the model with subdivisions you are working on polypaint.
