A 3.1 moan.

Not being one to moan about, well, anything really and I love Z-b, always have, but there are a couple of things that annoy me.

Why doesnt the global perspective work, and why doesnt the multi-marker work properly?!

I have to keep going back to Zbrush 2 to do certain things. Thats just not right is it? I dont want to labour the point, but global perspective was very important when building city scenes, or complex geometric designs.

Also, in the 3.1 update what happened to all the materials that are used for matcap?

The menu’s in 3.1 also tend to get in the way, especially when selecting material, and then, dragging into the canvas to pick a material you’ve previously used.

I’m sure the menu’s can be configured though right?

What do you mean by “what happened to all the materials”? If you click the large material thumbnail, the pop-up has all the MatCap materials at the top.

Regarding markers, that functionality has been replaced by SubTools. This new feature can do almost everything that markers were able to do – plus a lot more – in a manner that is also simpler and more intuitive. It’s even more powerful when you use the SubTool Master plugin. So the only thing that you should still actually need markers for is to mark a spot on the canvas to use to redraw later. You can still do that.

Hi Aurick,
Thank you for the reply - as regards to the Matcap materials, I absolutely stand corrected, during my fly through the package I couldnt see the wood for the trees. Apologies for that.

So the multi-marker option doesnt work and I’m to use Subtools instead. Ok, thats fine. Is there a global perspective somewhere in the package that I havent seen?

Thank you in advance,
M

To pick a material click+drag from the thumbnail in the Picker palette.

Mattie,
one more tip… if you click the large materials icon once, the materials array pops up sometimes covering a material already on your canvas that you want to drag to and sample. Just click the large materials icon a second time and the array will disappear so you can drag and sample.
