that’s currently the maximum resolution for a texture in zbrush.
why on earth would you need 8k for a single model? that’s like 4x 4096 textures
Photoshop -> make a white 8k image, import in zbrush. Happy texturing !
Bear in mind that while it is possible to go up to 8K by using this technique, it’s not officially supported by ZBrush. Use at your own risk, and expect performance issues.
The fact is that such a large texture is going to have performance issues just about everywhere. Rather than going with a single massive texture, you will get better results by mapping your model to use several smaller textures. The rendering engine can handle these textures much more efficiently and you’ll have better performance across the board.
I have an object that needs a VERY large normal map. XSI will handle larger maps just fine, so really the problem is with Zbrush right now. Every time I try and go above 4k it crashes. Maybe more ram will help?
I guess in the end I could try and do it in XSI, but zmapper is O-so convenient.
unless you are using arnold renderer!
