Hello all,
Can anyone tell me off hand how many gigs of ram Zbrush 3.5 will take advantage of? I’ve heard it’s only 4 but I wanted to double check. I have the opportunity to upgrade to 8, but want to make an educated choice. Thanks in advance?

As of 3.1, IF you are on a 64 bit OS (it’s less with 32 bit) ZB can use up to 4 gb of ram as a program. I don’t believe that has changed with 3.5 because Zbrush still isnt specifically 64 bit, however ZB 3.5 has significantly higher polycount potential just due to program optimizations.
Remember though, just because you have 4gb of ram, doesnt mean ZB is getting all of that. The OS takes a chunk, and in the case of modern Windows OS, that chunk can be large. Having in excess of 4gB of ram ensures that ZB will get the full amount.
