64 bit systems

If you have a 64 bit system and istall the current 2.0 verison of Z brush it will allow you to write out larger .OBJ files if you have more ram than the 3 gig limit on current machines?

Are you asking? or stating…?

Short: NO!

Geek BlaBla:

Pretty much the same under 32bit OS or 64Bit OS. Windows limitations applied at the compiletime of the application are in effect regardless of the underlying processor or 64Bit OS as both have to emulate the native configuration the prog has to be executed under.

You might get a tad more out of it running a 64bit OS as the application might get more ram then under the 32 bit model because the OS can separate ceratin processes from that realm. But I don’t know how much benefit a few 100MB will bring.

Iin any case, a multi processor board or dual core processors will bring you quite a boost in perfromance. A dream board of mine is tha dual processor AMD Opteron with 4GB Ram… Sizzzzzzlllinggggggggg.

Sorry it wasnt very clear was it, Im asking if it will help

I currently have a dual Xenon 3.4 processors with 3 gigs or Ram, about one of the fastest machines I can think of, and I still cant write out very large .OBJ files without Zbrush saying its out of memory, I can Spit out about 2 million polys but thats about it, not that that is bad though

Thanks for clearing that up for me,

SOOOOOOOOOO the big question then is (can anyone guess!)

Will Z brush be releasing a version that will run on 64 bit systems (Or take advantage of them and there endless supply of ram goodness I should say)

Thanks!

Still: NO.

It will not help.

Maybe next generation. If there will be no 64 bit version ZB will be out of the race within the next year regarding the 3d modeling functionality. SO I bet there will be one. It’s not that complicated to utilize the larger address room compared to adding new functionality.
