4R3 or 5?

Hello,

Does anyone have any info when they plan to release v5? I’m contemplating if I should give in and just buy 4R3 now, or let it go and wait until 5 is released. I’d hate to shell out so much money just so after a few months v5 will be released with 64bit support and then I can shell out yet another few hundred for the upgrade.

TX

Nobody has that info.

I don’t even know when it will be released.

Due to the fact that we’ve just put out two major updates in one month, we’re probably still a good way from 5.

Note that since ZBrush was released all updates have been totally free (no guarantee that future updates will be). Also when a major release comes out, that is usually that’s the opportunity to make a price increase.

ZOMG! If Aurick, the All knowing dose not know… then it’s positively TBA.

If you’re a hobbyist you can decide on whether to wait or not. Like was mentioned though all upgrades so far have been free (even from v1 to v4). However if you plan on using it for work or paying projects I wouldn’t wait. It will more than make up for the cost.

Thanks everyone! I did not know that all updates were free so far. I thought only same version updates were free. Yes I am just a hobbyist and naturally, money is a concern (gee…when it wasn’t…)

I am pretty sure Zbrush 5 will also be a free upgrade. Pixologic Makes their money from means other than just box sales.

It’s another reason why Zbrush stands out from other software. Pixologic has been great.

Zbrush was the best 500$ I ever spent. If folks can’t afford Zbrush, They offer you Sculptris, a great free package to help you get started sculpting. I used Sculptris before Pix bought it. I was worried they were just buying out the competition, and were going to shelf it. I was happy to see that they released it as a free program for everyone to use. That was a brilliant move. I think its a great deterrent to keep people from Pirating Zbrush. It gives people something to cut their on before trying out the Zbrush limited time trial.

Thanks Pix!

If Pixologic was to develop a new 3D tool package, I would buy it hands down. I would love to see them design a full animation studio and rendering Platform. I don’t have allot of money, but I would save what I can until I had enough to purchase a new product from Pixologic. I did this for Zbrush. It took me 6 months to save up that $500 and I don’t regret it. Today, I am unemployed… and on an extremely fixed income, but I would save as long as it took to get a new different package by Pix. Because I know, not only would it be a great product, But I also know I would not be nickle and dimed for every update they released for it. It would be my next best Software Investment.
