4R2 .ztl files Not Opening in 4.0? [Answered]

I have a 4R2 .ztl file that will not open in 4.0. Is there known compatibility issues with this?

I just tried a simple experiment of taking a basic shape in 4R2, sculpting a few lines on it, then saving and attempting to open in 4.0 and received the same error message.
Using a mac.

thank you,
Doug

I don’t recall many ZB updates being backwards compatible. It’s probably safest to assume it isn’t.

You can attempt to save out your highest subdivision level(s) as .obj, and reconstruct the lower subD levels in the old version.

That is literally what I did. I didnt think about version compatibility issues, glad I was not far into this project.

Just to note that you would be better off exporting as a GoZ complete binary. This will also export any polypaint and masking, and the file size is smaller.
