I know I can’t open 4R4 ztl files in 4R2, but OBJs are much larger and have to be pieced back together. Is there any way I can download an older version of Zbrush on my alternate computer so that I can recompile the OBJs and make it easier for the people on the receiving end of my files?
Nope.
The user on your end could update to the same version you’re using…being that it is a free update.
I do believe that would be the easiest solution for all parties involved.
It would be but he’s not really a big computer person and apparently had some issues updating to 4R2 and doesn’t want to trouble updating again unfortunately. I can work around it but I was just curious.
It’s possible, but you probably wont get an official link to the download from cleverbridge if it’s no longer a supported version. It’s a good idea to keep backups of them for such reasons, otherwise you’re going to have to dig through some shadier sources to get the file you need.
It’s really worth trying to get the guy to upgrade though. R2 is getting old now, and had its set of issues.
He really should be updated to R5. It shouldn’t be an issue as he can install from the full R5 install file. The time and effort spent updating (even if he does run into problems) is going to be a lot less time and effort than trying to export and import compatible files between the two versions. It’s time and money saved if he does it, not to mention the new tools and abilities of the upgrade.
