one of my friends was asking for 8 gigs of ram for zbrush he has 4 now. and i said "will it even make a difference for zbrush since its only 32bit? anyone know if adding 4 more gigs will do anything for zbrush? thanks for any info btw.
ZBrush will use up to 4 GB of RAM. If you have 4 GB in your system, you will need to leave 1 GB for the OS. That means you can really only give ZBrush 3 GB (using Preferences>Mem>Compact Mem).
If you upgrade to 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM this would allow you to give ZBrush its maximum of 4 GB. All the rest of the system RAM can then be used by the OS and any background apps. So yes, you will see an improvement of up to 33% in allowable polygon counts.
will be R4 64 bits?
